The NZ Contemporary Art Trust is a non-profit organisation established in 2005.

The Trust is comprised of professionals from within the visual arts industry and diverse disciplines in the wider community. Trustees are: Candis Craven (Chair), Alex McDonald, Dayle Mace, Helene Phillips, David Ross, Deborah White, Gary Langsford and Jennifer Buckley (Fair Director).

The NZ Contemporary Art Trust was established for purposes beneficial to the arts community in New Zealand. These include: raising awareness and understanding of contemporary NZ art; ensuring galleries are accessible to the public; and encouraging the public and government to recognize the cultural and economic value of art in NZ.

The Trust sets out to achieve these purposes by raising public awareness and understanding of the role commercial galleries play in the development and promotion of contemporary art; to promote the development of living artists by encouraging support of the primary market and: to organize a bi-annual art event to promote contemporary art in NZ and internationally.

This event, Auckland Art Fair, features leading contemporary Australasian galleries and artists. The main objective of the event is to foster a greater understanding of contemporary art in the community. All exhibitors in the fair are dedicated to the ethical representation of living artists.
